A man arrested in connection with a drunken domestic abuse incident in downtown Iowa City Monday afternoon urinated on the walls of the Iowa City Police Station after his arrest, police said.
Bryan D. Wickman, 31, who reported no permanent address, was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse assault, public intoxication, operating while intoxicated and disorderly conduct. He was also ticketed for public urination.
Officers were called Monday afternoon for a report that a man and a woman were fighting in front of Buffalo Wild Wings, 201 S. Clinton St. The woman told police that Wickman took several credit cards from her purse and refused to return her car keys, then drove her car. Officers said Wickman had a strong odor of ingested alcohol, bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.
Police said Wickman's mood swings ranged from singing to crying and finally sobbing. Officers took Wickman to the police station and handcuffed him to a bench, where he screamed profanities for an hour and a half.
Iowa City Police spokesperson Sgt. Denise Brotherton said Wickman attempted to urinate on the floor of the police station. Police then took him to the bathroom, where he intentionally urinated on the bathroom walls.
