Clean Line isn’t telling whole story

I'm not the only one who received a certified letter from Rock Island Clean Line. This company is a speculative company, not a public utility. They plan to apply for a franchise with the Iowa Utilities Board to build a high-voltage DC transmission line across Iowa.
The acreage my husband and I searched for, found, bought and built our dream home on now is in their sights as a spot for that 500-mile transmission line throughout Iowa and part of Illinois. This will deliver power from wind turbines in northwest Iowa to the Chicago area.
The thing is, a DC line is a closed line - no power comes off or goes on other than at either end. Iowa will get none of the power. So Iowa farmers and landowners are being asked to allow easements through our land for a power line we can't use and it will be there forever.
The compensation offered is so not worth what they are asking us to give up.
My husband and I will fight this to preserve what we have been building for ourselves and our son. There is an organization formed to fight Clean Line, a non-profit founded by landowners in the first six counties: The Preservation of Rural Iowa Alliance. See www.iowastopricl.co for accurate and useful information.
Check them out and realize the line isn't the sure thing that Clean Line wants you to believe.
