JUNE MARIE CASEY
Tama
June Marie Casey, 98, of Tama, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher and Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the church.
June was born June 13, 1920, in Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of Fred J. and Emma (Wacha) Hushak. She graduated from Clutier High School. On Sept. 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lyle Casey in Clutier. They farmed northeast of Toledo until Lyle's death.
June moved to Tama in 1980. She later worked at Gloria's in Toledo and Ben Franklin in Tama. June enjoyed her family most of all. She also enjoyed dancing, card playing, gardening and sewing. She was a very active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and was a part of several groups within the church. June was also a member of CCW and Catholic Foresters.
Survivors include five children, Robert J. (Linda) Casey of Aurora, Colo., Colene (Bernie) Masker of Conrad, Mary Jane (Dan) Waite of State Center, LuAnn (Robert) Anderson of Atkins and Curtis L. (Nancy) Casey of Ogden; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Annabelle (Frank) Grimm of Marshalltown; and one sister-in-law, Beatrice Hushak of Traer.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lyle, on July 24, 1976; one sister, Pearl Schoenfelder; three brothers, Fred and Victor Hushak, and infant brother, James.
A memorial fund has been established.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
