Craig Charles Hollander, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, in his home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Jude Catholic Church. Inurnment: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Reasoner will officiate. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Brittany (Nick) Brokaw of Cedar Rapids; a son, Collin Hollander of Cedar Rapids; his friend, Kris Hollander of Cedar Rapids; his grandchild, Reese Brokaw, with another granddaughter on the way; a sister, Frances (Delbert) Clausen of Schleswig; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Hollander of Sioux City. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, two aunts and one uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doug Hollander.
Craig was born Sept. 14, 1950, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Eldo and Henrietta (Peterson) Hollander. He married Kris Heiman on Sept. 2, 1978, in Carroll, Iowa. They later divorced but remained close friends. Craig worked in transportation management for various trucking companies, including Farmland Foods. Craig grew up on a farm in Schleswig, Iowa, and earned a bachelor's degree from Wayne State College in Nebraska.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, taking naps and eating ice cream. Craig was always up on current events and investments.
Craig was a family man and enjoyed the time spent with them. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
