URBANA -- Employees of Clickstop who joined the company before the last day of 2010 have a little more cash in their pocket.
The Urbana-based e-commerce company made its first profit sharing distribution May 1. The program was first announced and implemented in January as a way for employees to share in the success of the growing company.
After an employee has been with Clickstop for a year, a cash bonus is paid out quarterly when profit goals are reached. Sales goals, actual sales and other measurement data are displayed daily in the company's kitchen area for all employees to view and follow.
Tim Guenther, Clickstop founder and chief executive officer, said profit sharing was something that the company had been looking forward to rolling out for its employees.
"The hard work of our employees is what fuels our growth, so having a tangible reward for those efforts meshes perfectly with our company's culture of persistence, passion and opportunity," Guenther said.
When Guenther began the start-up company in 2005, it had one employee selling a variety of cargo control products on its USCargoControl.com website. Today, Clickstop operates 10 different web store properties and has 47 employees, with plans to add another 50 over the next three years.
Clickstop also presented its first Rock Star award to Megan Goebel, the company's accounting manager. The Rock Star award was created as a way to highlight an employee that has gone above and beyond their job responsibilities during the prior quarter.
Goebel joined Clickstop in November 2010 as a staff accountant and was promoted to accounting manager in October 2011. She manages the day-to-day accounting activities of Clickstop as well as pitching in to help with benefits administration, such as health and dental insurance, and the 401(k) program.
