Timms, Helen Marie

Helen Marie Timms, 92, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Galveston, Texas, at The Meridian Retirement Center, where she had resided for seven years.

Born July 6, 1918, in Elberon, Iowa, Helen made her home in Alburnett and Marion for over 84 years. She was a lifetime member of Marion American Legion Auxiliary and was employed by Wilson and Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1976.

She was presided in death by her husband, Melvin; and their two infant sons. 

She is s survived by her four daughters, JoAnn Fairley and husband Dallas of Altamont, Ill., Betty Matheny and husband Richard of Cedar Rapids, Rose Marie Shepard and husband Donald of The Woodlands, Texas and Mary Welch and husband Jeffrey of Galveston, Texas; along with nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Helen was a dual member of First United Methodist Church of Marion and Moody Memorial United Methodist Church of Galveston, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at Lafayette Cemetery in Alburnett this summer at a date to be announced. She will rest beside her husband.
