Waddle, Helen M.
Helen M. Waddle, 86, of Urbana, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, after an extended illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at St Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Mary) Fox of Cedar Rapids, John (Lisa) Waddle of Coon Rapids and Teresa (Kevin) VerMeer of Savage, Minn.; stepdaughter, Jeanne Weispfenning of Clinton; sister, Mary Ann Usher of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter-in-law, Elna Waddle of Alpine, Ariz.; grandchildren, Chrissy McCray, Jacob and Jared Waddle, Billy and Logan VerMeer, Jeff Iburg and Alan and Mark Waddle; two stepgrandchildren, Denise Willson and Dawn Hexom; several great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great granddaughter; and sister-in-law, Jeannine Dvorak of Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Donald Fox and Lenord Waddle; brother, Raymond; infant brother, Marshall Dvorak; son, James Fox; stepson, Dale Waddle; brother-in-law, Jim Usher; and stepson-in-law, Rollie Weispfenning.
Helen was born on Sept. 18, 1926, in Walker, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Libbie (Koutny) Dvorak. She graduated from Walker High School in 1943. Helen worked at Welch-Cook warehouse. On Nov. 7, 1946, she married Donald R. Fox, he passed away on Feb. 16, 1954. Then she married Lenord Waddle in Cedar Rapids on June 11, 1960. She then farmed with her husband and was also a cook at Urbana Schools. Helen was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana, where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She had a love of sports especially when watching her grandchildren play.
