Maxine Mae Emerson Preussner, 89, of Delhi, died at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Delhi United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sam Mack officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Maxine was born Dec. 20, 1926, to Roy and Mae Emerson of Silver Creek. She married Donald F. Preussner on Sept. 19, 1953, at Silver Creek and resided in Delhi.
She graduated from Coggon High School in 1944 and received her teaching certification from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). Maxine taught country school before her marriage to Don. She was active in Hannah Circle, assisted Don with the family business, Preussner Truckline, and worked the election board many years.
Maxine enjoyed traveling and the B's – Bible, Birds and Blooms. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking for her family. Most important to her was spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters, Cindy Preussner of Marion and Deanna Preussner of Delhi; a son, Greg (Nancy) Preussner of Delhi; and three granddaughters, Kelly Preussner of Durham, N.C., Jessi Preussner of Blacksburg, Va., and Emily Preussner of Fayette.
Maxine was preceded in death by a son, Brent, on Nov. 7, 1980; her husband, Don, on April 11, 2000; her parents, Roy and Mae Emerson; and siblings, Francis Graybill, Leslie Emerson, Roy (Junior) Emerson, Margaret McDowell and Alice Carradus.
