Oscar was born May 3, 1928, in Audubon, Iowa. He was a mechanic, farmed and booked entertainment for various clubs in the Cedar Rapids and Marion area in his younger days. He was a co-owner of Cedar View Club in Cedar Rapids. Oscar farmed for over 50 years in Springville while taking care of his parents until they passed away. In his late 60s, he moved his family to Marion where he began working as a security guard for Nighthawk and Central Security. He was very proud of his accomplishment at becoming captain and his younger co-workers looked up to him. In later years, he did lawn care and helped take care of an elderly neighbor.
Oscar was a hero to his son, Jonathan, and daughter, Stacy. He was always there for them. He enjoyed gardening, building bird houses, mowing lawns and helping out in any way he could.
The family would like to thank Shady Rest Care Center for their love and compassionate care over the last few years.
