Cathryn Isabell Hayward, 96, of Marion, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Ressler. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family form 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Cathryn was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Herbert Eugene and Mary Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Hanson. She graduated from St. Patrick School in 1938. Cathryn was united in marriage to Ray E. Hayward on March 22, 1941, at St. Patrick Rectory, Cedar Rapids. She retired from Rockwell Collins in 1981. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha.
Cathryn is survived by her children, Tracy (Linda) Hayward of Robins, Jolene (John) Schulte of Walford and Mary (Dan) Drees of Durango; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild with another due in April; brother, Albert "Barney" (Pat) Hanson; sister-in-law, Kathy Hanson; and extended family, Pat Stuckenschneider.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; son, Ray Jr.; daughter, Patti Stuckenschneider; brothers, William, Harry, Herbert T., Robert and Walter Hanson; sisters, Mary "Geri" Elias, Margaret Fitzpatrick and Dorothy Anderson; and extended family. Jim Stuckenschneider and Kelly Bormann.
Cathryn enjoyed knitting baby booties and hats for Mercy Medical Center, family gatherings and playing games with her grandkids.
Memorials may be directed to the family, the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy or Hospice of Mercy.
