Lehrman, Herbert J.
Herbert J. Lehrman, 99, of Olin, Iowa, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Burial will be in the Stanwood Cemetery, Stanwood, Iowa.
Herbert was born Jan. 27, 1913, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Paul and Ida (Luedemann) Lehrman. He attended Stanwood school. He married Florence Mardorf on Aug. 21, 1935, in Stanwood. She preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 1985.
He married Ila Howell on June 25, 1994, in Maquoketa. She preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2009.
Herbert was a farmer and from 1956 to 1983, was an implement dealer at Lehrman Equipment for 27 years in Olin and Wyoming. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion.
Herbert is survived by his children, Marlyn (Julie) Lehrman of Wyoming, Betty (Paul) Bendixen of Marion, Elaine (John) Gallus of Delano, Minn., Everett (Georgia) Lehrman of Marion, and Joyce (Tom) Doll of Onslow; 16 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by six stepchildren, many stepgrandchildren; one sister, Helen Jackson of Clarence; two brothers, Melvin Lehrman of Mechanicsville and Arnold (Doris) Lehrman of Stanwood; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Siebels of Mechanicsville.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Florence and Ila; his parents; and two sisters, Alma Hansen and Louise Siebels.
Memorials are preferred.
