Young-Casner, Arlene A.
Arlene A. Young-Casner, 91, of Swisher, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Dan Clark-Bridges. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Additional visitation will be one hour before services on Monday at the church. Burial: 1 p.m. Monday at Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Harlan) Bean of Ringwood, Ill., Bruce (Joyce) Young Jr. of Swisher and Sue Ann (Pat) Frasher of Worthingon, Iowa. Also surviving are Dennis (Patricia) Casner of Hiawatha; sister, Alma Freeman; sisters-in-law, Lois Starry and Betty Brimer; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Bruce Young; second husband, Leo Casner; daughter, Janet A. Miller; son-in-law, Steve Miller; and siblings, Leona Newman, Oliver Hepker, Forest Hepker and LeEtta Pisarik.
Arlene was born July 6, 1921, in Toddville, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Pauline (Ellis) Hepker. She graduated from Toddville High School in 1940. She married Bruce Young in 1940; he passed away in 1978. Then she married Leo C. Casner in 1985 and he passed away in 2002.
Arlene was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 5. She enjoyed her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Arlene's memory.
