Barbara Ann Walser, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor John Howerton. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Selma) Walser, Pamela Michulka and Larry (Deb) Walser; grandchildren, Curtis, Mitchell, Jennifer and Andrew Walser; great-grandchildren, Emily, McKay, Greenlee, Brycen, Della and Makayla; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; son-in-law, Charles Michulka; three grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Newhard.
Barb was born March 20, 1927, in Toddville, Iowa, the daughter of Darwin and Ella (Waterbury) Heefner. Barb married Jerry Walser on July 6, 1945, at The Little Brown Church. She was a member of the Western Fraternal Lodge and played in a card club for 50 years. Once a month she would meet with her high school friends from Toddville for lunch. Barb was a former avid golfer and loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her two cats, Hank and Ivy.
