Bowers, Casper Allen 'Cap'
Casper Allen “Cap” Bowers, 88, a resident of Crestview Acres in Marion, formerly of Center Point and Toddville, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point by the Rev. Sherry Anderson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include his four children, Cherryl (Richard) Denison of Cedar Rapids, Clifford (Diane) Bowers of Toddville, Cassandra Nolan of Chandler, Ariz., and Cheyenne Bowers of Florida; six grandchildren, Tracy, Brian, Shelly, Ryan, Melanie and Dana; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verdena; an infant daughter, Cappra Ann, who died in infancy; and his brother, Dorman Clifford Bowers, who was killed in World War II.
Cap was born Sept. 8, 1924, the son of Harry and Cora Mae (Morris) Bowers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Feb. 15, 1947, he married Verdena Maxine Schmickle at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She died July 7, 2007. Cap attended school at Toddville and Center Point. He farmed in the Toddville and Center Point areas his whole life.
