On July 27, 2018, Hardin T. Abrams, (known as "Pop" to his grandchildren), entered Heaven's gates. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. Hilary's Catholic Church in Tiburon, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Huegel Abrams; children, Joan Abrams, Julie Castro Abrams, Beth Abrams Borchers, David Abrams and Lynne Abrams Derby; a brother, William Abrams; his sister, Nancy Abrams; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Abrams; father, Kenneth Abrams and sister, Ann Abrams.

Hardin was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Hannibal, Mo. Hardin received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri. He married Susan Huegel in 1964 and the newlyweds moved to Cedar Rapids. Hardin had a distinguished 35-year career at Rockwell International. Hardin and Susan had five children, Joan Abrams, Julie Castro Abrams, Beth Borchers, David Abrams and Lynne Derby. Hardin was a member of St. Pius X parish and then a founding member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish in Cedar Rapids.

After 35 years in Cedar Rapids, Hardin and Susan moved to San Rafael, Calif., to support Susan's new career as owner of Meadowlark Gallery in Corte Madera. They left the snowy Iowa winters behind and quickly adapted to the California lifestyle, enjoying sunny days, farmer's markets and Napa wineries. During retirement, his main joy was spending time with his children and 11 grandchildren. Pop was the fix-it guy for every household repair, the chaperone/driver for grandkids, the family reunion organizer and the cheerleader at every grandchild's activity. Hardin passed away at his daughter Beth's house, surrounded by family.
