Devyn Marble returns to NBA D-League

Feb. 2, 2015 3:07 pm
Devyn Marble is headed back to Erie, Pa., to get in some basketball work.
The rookie from Iowa was assigned to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA D-League Monday by the Orlando Magic. This may surprise some who knew Marble had started seven games for Orlando since he was brought back to the Magic after a 2-game stint with Erie in late December.
But playing time had dried up for Marble lately, partly because of the return of 2014 first-round pick Aaron Gordon returning from a foot injury. He wasn't on the Magic's 12-player active roster for their last three games.
Marble has appeared in 16 games for Orlando, averaging 2.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 13 minutes per game.
He has not shot well. He has shot 31.8 percent (14-of-44) from the field, 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from 3-point range, and 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from the free throw line.
In his two previous games with Erie, Marble averaged 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.
Erie's next game is at home Thursday against the Delaware 87ers.
