Terry Lee Konicek, 59, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids surrounded by his family. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with Penny Ackerman officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Vining. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1955, to Leo and Dorothy Ratzlaff Konicek in Vinton. After graduating high school, he was united in marriage to Cindy Perrin on Aug. 22, 1981.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cindy of Newhall; son, Cameron of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Danielle (Scott) McGrath of Cedar Rapids and Courtney (Jason) Mehring of Newhall; brothers, Gary Konicek of Palo and Larry (Leslie) Konicek of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Joyce Konicek (Keith Simmons) of Cedar Rapids, Tracy Mayland of Cedar Rapids and Vicki (Chuck) Every of Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, Mary Perin; and grandson, Jackson McGrath, whom papa loved dearly. Theirs was a unique and special bond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ricky; and father-in-law, Ron Perin.
Terry worked hard as a proud member of Iron Workers Local 89 of Cedar Rapids, most recently with Blanik. He loved working with nature, loved planting trees, he loved yard work and was an avid gardener. He also loved boating, fishing and spoiling kids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
