Harry Allen Lanham, 75, of Lisbon, passed away at home Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, after a courageous nine-year battle with lung cancer. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Harry was born March 20, 1940, in Mammoth, W.Va., to Sylvia M. (Pauley) and Clifton F. Lanham. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School, Cedar Grove, W.Va. After moving to Iowa, he married Janet Yirkovsky Lanham. While being an avid carpenter, his final working days were spent working with Asbestos Workers Local 81, retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; their children, Jessica Lanham, Marcia Yirkovsky, Marvin Yirkovsky, Darren Yirkovsky, Corinna Hanrahan, David Yirkovsky, Dane Yirkovsky and Ken Armstrong; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Barnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; a daughter, Lisa; and a son, Brad.
Harry's family would like to thank Dr. Clayton Schuett and his team, Dr. Deborah Wilbur and her team, and all the nurses at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and hospice, especially Christa and Beth, for their care and concern for Harry during his journey. He had a special place in his heart for each and every one of them.
