Timothy Scott Atkinson, 51, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, of natural causes at his home.
Tim was born July 22, 1965, in Harlan, Iowa, the son of Robert K. and Anna Mae (Nelsen) Atkinson. He graduated from West High School in Iowa City in 1984. Tim was united in marriage to Dawn Brennan on Aug. 5, 1989, in North Liberty. To this union they were blessed with three children. They later divorced. Tim worked for 33 years in shipping and receiving at IAC (formerly Sheller Globe) in Iowa City.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, hunting, fishing, and attending auctions and flee markets. He was a former member of the Elks and Moose lodges.
He is survived by his children, Ethan Atkinson of the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Japan, Cody Atkinson of Williamsburg and Britnee Atkinson of North English; two brothers, Robert "Rob" (Cris) Atkinson of North Liberty and Rodney Atkinson of Portland, Ore.; niece and nephews, Austin (Chelsey), Shelby and Lucas; and a great-niece, Oaklie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life gathering will be Friday, May 5, at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg from 5 to 7 p.m.
