Ricky Allen Ackerson, an Iowa native, died at age 60 in his Los Angeles home, with his wife, Catherine, and his dog, Travis, at his side.
Mr. Ackerson was born Aug. 1, 1954, in Iowa City,
Iowa, and attended Orange High School in Waterloo. He was a Vietnam-era veteran who received his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1974. In the mid-1980s, Ricky migrated to Southern California, where he worked in a number of trades before making his career in maintenance and repair.
In addition to his wife, surviving are his father, Robert of Cedar Rapids; his sisters, Kathleen of Del Rey Beach, Fla., and Roberta of Rayne, La.; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean; sister, Linda; and brother, Michael.
