Leroy Harris, 84, of Anamosa, died Saturday, June 18, 2016. There will be no public services per Leroy's wishes. Private graveside service will take place at Olin Cemetery in Olin. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the
arrangements.
Leroy was born May 3, 1932, in Duncombe, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Marie Harris. He married Virginia Wing on June 30, 1949. Three children were born to this union. Larry worked as a distributor for Home Town Dairy for 42 years. During that time he also was a distributor for Meadow Gold Dairy. He sold Dairy Queen products to many of the Dairy Queen establishments.
After his retirement he enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spent winters in Mission, Texas. He also enjoyed playing golf, taking long walks and bird watching. Another favorite was going to casinos and working with wood. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Cindy (Larry) Graf; his son, Mark Harris and longtime companion Kris Shoaff; 12 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elvetta (Bob) Swanson and Donna (Lee) Osborn.
He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve (Deb) Harris; his parents; one brother and three sisters.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him and loved him.
