Corey D. Holladay, 53, of Flagstaff, Ariz., died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at his home. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Teahen Funeral Home by Deacon Paul Zimmerman. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Cera and Christan; son, Cody Soto; his parents, Ronald and Geraldine of Cedar Rapids; brother, Norman of Cedar Rapids; sister, Janiece Holladay of Kanab, Utah; brother, Lee (Lisa) of Marion; granddaughter, Serenity; and many nieces and nephews.
Corey was born Oct. 6, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ronald and Geraldine Schmidt Holladay. He graduated from Kennedy High School and attended Iowa State University. He then served in the Navy for three years. He married Mona Soto in 1990. They later divorced. Corey worked in the Grand Canyon for several years before settling in Flagstaff. In Flagstaff, he was a property manager and did rental maintenance for 15 years with AZNorth Investments.
For the past six months, he put up an extraordinary fight with leukemia.
Corey's family would like to thank his dear friends, Joe, Scott and Diane, Tom and Kim and Jon for all of the care and support they gave Corey during his illness. They would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix and Flagstaff Medical Center and Cancer Center for the care they gave him.
