CEDAR RAPIDS - Volunteers are sought to help sort donations dropped off to a Cedar Rapids transportation company that plans to take them to Texas next week as part of the Hurricane Harvey relief effort.
JMS Transportation, 5650 Sixth St. SW, put out a call for donations and the response to its 'Hauling for Houston” drive has been 'absolutely incredible,” according to General Manager Riley Larson. He said the business is planning to send two trucks filled with supplies to a shelter at the World Harvest Outreach Seventh-day Adventist Church in Houston. Departure is set for Wednesday morning.
Volunteers are asked to come help sort items from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Additional donations also are being accepted at that time.
'What we are in need of now are volunteers to help sort items and load the trailer. An assembly line-type set up would work wonders,” said Larson.
For more information, contact Larson at (319) 369-4212 or rileylarson@jmstransport.com.
