Mary Lizzie Ross, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Gilbert Williams Jr., Steve Williams, Raymond Ross and David Ross; her grandchildren, including Scott Williams Meister, Terry Williams Meister, Kosha Ross, Dana Williams, JR and Shane Wedlund; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lester Holmes, Lina Chase, Ruth Dietz and Minnie Bullock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Phyllis Williams Wedlund; and siblings, Andy Holmes, Edward Holmes, Emma Brocksman and Helen Long.
Mary was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Ames, Iowa, daughter of Lester L. and Lily (Hall) Holmes. She married Earl "Tex" Ross on Dec. 27, 1955, in Iowa City. He died Jan. 10, 1998. Mary worked at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
