Stallman, David
David Stallman, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died at the Rock Ridge Residential Care Center, Shellsburg, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, by the Rev. Neil Manternach. Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Pekomy Post 572. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, with a vigil service at 5 p.m.
David is survived by children, Dan Stallman of Cedar Rapids, Julie (Mike) Schmickley of Algonquin, Ill., and Craig (Kathy) Stallman of Williamsburg; brothers, Firmin Stallman of Center Point, Gerald Stallman of Shellsburg and William Stallman of Fairfax; sisters, Germaine Keiper of Atkins, Marge Cejka of Fairfax and Ida Shonka of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren, Jennifer and Bradley Schmickley and Ty and Mickala Stallman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; daughter, Ellen Marie; three brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter, Jessica.
David was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Fairfax, to Charles and Margaret Schulte Stallman. He farmed in Linn County and worked for Wilson Foods from 1948 to 1970. He was a member of the Linn County Cattlemen, Farm Bureau, and the American Legion Pekomy Post 572. David was an Army veteran of World War II. He was on the board of directors for Linn Coop Oil Co. and the Linn County Beef Producers. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Building Fund.
The family would like to give special thanks to St. Luke's Hospice and Rock Ridge Residential Care Center for the special care given to David.
