Dickerson leaving Hawkeyes

IOWA CITY - Iowa sophomore guard Trey Dickerson has left the men's basketball team and will transfer at the end of the spring semester, Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery confirmed Monday.
Dickerson, a 6-foot junior-college transfer, played in 15 of Iowa's 27 games and averaged 2.7 points. He did not accompany the basketball team to Nebraska on Sunday, a game in which Iowa won 74-46.
After Sunday's game, McCaffery told reporters Dickerson didn't make the trip because he was ill. McCaffery was asked by The Gazette on Monday morning if Dickerson would be in uniform against Illinois and McCaffery said, 'I think it's too early to tell.”
'I haven't spoken to the doctors yet on that,” McCaffery said about Dickerson's illness. 'I'm going to speak to them today and see what they're saying about that and we'll get that figured out.”
Dickerson will stay at Iowa through the rest of the semester. He was a third-team junior-college All-American at Williston (N.D.) State.
'I appreciate the staff and Hawkeye nation for showing me love,” Dickerson said in a statement. 'I enjoyed my time here (but) I have to do what's best for me.”
In Big Ten play, Dickerson logged 23 minutes in only three games. He scored 15 points in league action.
'We appreciate the contributions Trey made during his time here,” McCaffery said in a statement. 'Trey has a bright future, and we wish him all the best moving forward.”
