Harold Richard Schminkey, 80, of Cedar Rapids, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at home. Visita-tion will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Cedar Memorial Park
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with Pastor Lynn Furrow officiating. Graveside services will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dixie Schminkey; four children, Randy (Janet) Schminkey, Faith (Ken) Blackburn, Hope Young and April Schminkey; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby and Betty; and a brother, Robert (Deanna) Schminkey.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Harold Richard Schminkey was born Dec. 19, 1934, to John and Grace (Cook) Schminkey in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Dixie Terry on July 12, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Camden Amusement as a technician for 23 years.
Harold enjoyed woodworking, electronic items and especially spending time with his family.
He will always be remembered for being a loving and wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather.
