Squiers, Margaret Lee
Margaret Lee Squiers, 76, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of North English, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Medallion Senior Living Community in Dallas after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Margaret was born June 28, 1935, in North English, Iowa, the daughter of Dean (Barney) and Elizabeth (Betty) Yates Thomas. She graduated from North English High School in 1953 and American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She was married to Dale Squiers on Dec. 26, 1959, in North English. They later divorced. Margaret worked for Ford Motor Co. in Omaha and Jefferson Elementary School and Express Print in Des Moines.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Jay Squiers of Dallas and his wife, Meg, and Gil Squiers of Collierville, Tenn.; and also by four grandchildren: Jack (a senior at Princeton University), Kate (a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame), Will (a senior at Cistercian Preparatory School) and Hall (a 6th grader at Collierville Middle School).
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Bruce Thomas.
Graveside services will be held at the North English Cemetery at 10 a.m. Aug. 28. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
