Jack Ilten, 84, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at
10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will take place Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, from
4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; sons, John (Roni), Mike (Darlene) and Tim (Brenda); daughter, Tina (Steve) Anstine; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lee.
Jack was born March 19, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to his parents Lee and Meta Ilten. Jack graduated from the University of Iowa School of Business in 1955. He married Ruth Brandenburg on Aug. 20, 1955. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Colorado Springs and Germany. He worked at Ilten and Taege (now Ilten's Inc.) starting in 1959. Jack worked at Ilten's up until his illness. He loved his church, family and community, and was an avid traveler.
