Doris Marie Bantz, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died March 23, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church by Pastor Pat Fish. Burial: Merle Hay Chapel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Debby (Tom) Miller and Ginny (Tom) Reuss, both of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Doris was born on June 26, 1921, on a farm near Golden Valley, N.D., the daughter of Frank and Pauline Isaak Brecht. She married James Howard Bantz on May 19, 1946, in Golden Valley, N.D. Doris worked as a registered nurse anesthetist.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Jude Catholic Church or to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
