Benton 4-H’ers example of good teens do

I recently spent a weekend in Des Moines with Benton County 4-H'ers for 'Urban Plunge.”
We visited homeless shelters, cleaned up homeless camp sites, visited the homes of special needs children and an after-school program for underprivileged children. This was a cultural experience for all involved.
Benton County should be proud of our 4-H program and the good things these teenagers do for the community. These 4-H'ers gave up a weekend that they could have spent with friends doing whatever teenagers do, but instead devoted their time to helping the less fortunate.
We need to look for the good around us and not concentrate on all that is wrong. If you are interested in 4-H programs, contact the county extension office at (319) 472-4739.
