MARIE JOSEPHINE "JO" THOMSON

Marie Josephine "Jo" Thomson, 91, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, in Springfield, Mo.
She was born in Anamosa, Iowa, on April 7, 1924, to Henry and Marie Tiedemann. She was one of three children. Jo graduated from Stanwood High School in Iowa. She married Murl H. Thomson in 1942, and they made a home in Mount Vernon, Iowa, for 33 years. They owned and operated a business and were farmers until they moved to Branson, Mo., in 1975. In Branson, they owned and operated Ozark Family Steak House and the Cotton Pickers Lounge. Jo and Murl moved to Springfield, Mo., after retiring. Jo belonged to the United Methodist Church and she sang in the choir.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Murl; her parents; her son, Gary Thomson; and her brother, William Tiedemann.
She is survived by her sons, John V. Thomson and Robert (Nancy) Thomson, both of Springfield, Mo.; her daughter, Jo Ann (David) Stoner of Mount Vernon; her brother, Bernard (Marilyn) Tiedemann of Ely; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her dog and faithful companion, "Buttons," along with many other relatives and friends made throughout her life's journey.
Memorial visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo., at 1 p.m.
