Cedar Rapids
Calvin Roger Brinkerhoff, 90, went to live in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospice, surrounded by loved ones. Per his wishes, there will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life. He was a proud veteran of World War II and will be buried with military honors at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel.
He was born in Sioux City on March 7, 1925, and was the last survivor of eight children. Cedar Rapids has been his home for the last five years in order to be near his loving family.
He is survived by his four children, Jim (Luwonna), Leanne (Michael) McDaniel, Marilyn (Ed) Sebastian and Steven (Brenda); 13 grand-children; 17 great-grand-children; and one great-great-grand-child.
The family would like to give a sincere thank-you and blessing to all his wonderful, loving caregivers throughout the last three years.
