MARY JANE SCHMUCKER-WILMOTH Iowa City Mary Jane Schmucker-Wilmoth of Pine Haven Estates, Livingston, Tenn., formerly of the Iowa City area, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at her home. Memorial services will be Monday, Dec. 26, at 3 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until services at the funeral home. A memorial service in Livingston was held Monday, Dec. 19. Mary Jane was born March 2, 1921, in Washington County, a daughter of George Irwin and Ruby E. (Simerman) England. She attended Smith Creek Rural School in Lime Creek Township, Washington County, Iowa. She then graduated from Wellman High School and the University of Iowa. Mary Jane married Kenneth Schmucker in 1941. Kenneth passed away in 1984. Mary Jane later was united in marriage to John Wilmoth in 1990. She taught in rural elementary schools in Johnson County for 33 years. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans auxiliaries in Livingston. Survivors include her husband, John; son, Ed (Sue) Schmucker of Iowa City; daughter, Beverly (Terry) Bowman of Coralville; stepdaughter, Jan Kane (Kenneth) of Ainsworth; granddaughter, Tammy Bowman; grandsons, Doug (Jodi) Schmucker and David (Amy) Schmucker; four great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; two stepgrandsons; three stepgranddaughters; a stepgreat-grandson; a stepgreat- granddaughter; a sister, Martha Hall; and sister-in-law, Betty Bright. Preceding Mary Jane in death were her first husband, Kenneth; parents; a sister, Ethelda Moothart; and a brother, George England.
