Daniel L. "Dan" Sweeney, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at his home. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Memorials may be directed to the Daniel Sweeney memorial fund.
Dan was born Sept. 25, 1949, in Iowa City, the son of Joseph and Beatrice (Driscoll) Sweeney.
Survivors include his three daughters, Sherry, Brandy and Kris; sisters, Donna Kelley and Sharon Sweeney, both of Iowa City; brothers, Joe Sweeney (Margie) of Pueblo West, Colo., and Jim Sweeney of Iowa City; five nephews and four nieces; nine great-nephews; nine great-nieces; and two great-great-nieces.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Ann; a sister-in-law, Sue Sweeney; and a brother-in-law, Ed Kelley.
