Mary Jo Ann Duffy Troendle, 77, of Marion, formerly of Waukon, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at her home in Marion after a long illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at St. Patrick Catholic Church
in Waukon, with the Rev. Monsignor Cletus Hawes and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
Mary Jo Ann Duffy Troendle was born July 1, 1938, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of James and Rita (Lannon) Duffy. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in Waukon and attended Mercy Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Cedar Rapids. On June 4, 1960, Jo Ann married Paul G. Troendle at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. The couple were married for 25 years and raised their five children in Cedar Rapids.
Jo Ann received her real estate license and then her brokerage license before becoming the owner of Troendle Realty in Cedar Rapids. Jo Ann later retired in Marion.
She was a member of the Iowa Board of Realtors. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved her beloved canine companions, Snuggles and Precious. Jo Ann loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was very proud of them. She enjoyed spending time with them and having numerous slumber parties.
Jo Ann also maintained many lifelong friendships with high school classmates.
Jo Ann is survived by her five children, Mary Jean (Dewey) Baker of San Diego, Calif., Janet Gibbs of Decorah, Diane (Bill) Hepker of Vinton, Paul (Amy) Troendle of Toddville and Joseph Troendle of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren, Ilisa (Zack) Novotny, Vincent Gibbs, Monica, Jessica, Nicholas and Nathanial Hepker, Julie, Kristina and Jonathan Troendle and Caitlyn and Evan Troendle; four great-grandchildren, Grace and Joy Sheyko, Ayden Kohl and Evan Novotny; a sister-in-law, Ida Duffy of Waukon; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Ruth Ann) Schulte of Waukon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, James; three sisters, Anna Mae Borseth, Shirley Schulte and Jenny Kelly; and her brother, Howard Duffy.
Honorary casketbearers are her grandchildren.
