Lillian E. Eige, 102, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at The Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids. Gathering: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Memorial service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Stasia Fine. Reception following the service.
Lillian was born July 22, 1915, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Lillian (McNary) Tuffree. She married Gaylerd Eige on Oct. 17, 1937. She was a member of New Disciples Church. Lillian was a homemaker and author. She published three young adult fiction books, "Cady," "The Kidknapping of Mr. Huey," and "Dangling," which won an Edgar Award.
Lillian is survived by her son, Jon Eige (Pam Sutton); daughter, Julie (Randy) Rula; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, expected in April; and a special niece, Becky Tuffree.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lillian Tuffree; husband, Gaylerd Eige; infant daughter, Eliza Eige; and brother, Laurence Tuffree.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the wonderful and caring staff at The Woodlands at The Meth-Wick Community.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society or the Cedar Rapids Public Library.
