Another highly-touted Illinois prep has decided to continue his wrestling career at the University of Iowa.
Nationally-ranked sophomore Jason Renteria announced on social media that he plans to wrestle for the Hawkeyes and head coach Tom Brands.
'I am proud to announce that I will further my athletic and academic career at the University of Iowa,” Renteria posted on his Twitter account Thursday.
Renteria was a Class 3A state runner-up at 106 pounds for Oak Park-River Forest (Ill.) High School. He is currently ranked first in the country at 106 by Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine. Renteria is ranked ninth overall at 113 by Flowrestling.com and is No. 22 overall in the sophomore class by InterMat.
He is the third Illinois prep to commit to the Hawkeyes this week, joining Montini Catholic state champion Vince Turk and Libertyville's Joey Gunther, a 2013 national runner-up in Greco-Roman.
