IOWA CITY - A 23-year-old Waterloo man became the center of attention for a brief moment at the Hawkeye football game Saturday when he ran onto the field during a timeout, said Johnson County deputy Sgt. Virginia Watts.
Just after 1:26 p.m., University of Iowa police said Bruce Rolland, of 811 Hawthorne Ave. in Waterloo, entered the field from the north part of the stands, and ran from the north end zone to approximately the 40-yard line.
He was unstable on foot, police said, and later blew a .173 blood alcohol level.
A criminal complaint stated that he did it because game officials didn't overturn a previous call, Watts said.
Rolland is being charged with public intoxication and trespassing, and is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $600 bond, police said.
An initial court appearance has been set for Sunday morning.
