Bernice 'Bee' Haun
BERNIECE "BEE" HAUN
Marion
Berniece "Bee" Haun, 88, of Marion and formerly of Dunkerton, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones after a five-year battle with dementia. Bee was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of August and Sophie (Spear) Zell. She attended schools in Waterloo, Iowa. On
June 21, 1947, she was united in marriage
to Charlie Haun at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairbank, Iowa. To this union, five children were born: four daughters and one son. Besides being a homemaker and raising five children, Bee always was keeping busy outside of her everyday routine, such as leading a detasseling crew for 16 years and helping at the church whenever needed. Bee also was a Scout leader, and she volunteered at Mercy Hospital and at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant. Bee enjoyed playing cribbage, sewing and baking. She loved flowers, collecting spoons and traveling - she traveled to every state in the continental United States by car except for Alaska, and she did fly to Hawaii. But most of all, Bee loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Bee is survived by her three daughters, Darlene Farrell of Whittier, Iowa, Marlene (Ray) Bussey of Roscoe, Ill., and Lois (Steve) Snyder of Marion, Iowa; one son, Russell Haun of Rockton, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Jerry Johnson of Clinton, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Harold Zell; one daughter, Sharon Bergeron; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Jarmon at infancy and Gabe Haun.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at the funeral home.
Interment: Grove Hill Cemetery in rural Bremer County.
