Betty Lou Ferguson, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Raymond; her daughter, Vickie ( Ronald) McGovern of Anamosa; her siblings, Leona Ender of Vinton, Kyle (Shirley) Hummel of Vinton, Joan (Joel) Miller of Fleming Island, Fla., and Joseph (Linda) Hummel of Mountain View, Calif.; her grandchildren, John (Denise) McGovern of Central City and Patrick (Diane) McGovern of Anamosa; and her great-grandchildren, Alec Munier, Calvin McGovern, Curtis McGovern, Madeline McGovern and Elizabeth McGovern.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Donna Hummel, Jerry Hummel, Georgiena Schadle and Alice Morrow; and her brothers-in-law, Robb Morrow, George Schadle and Richard Ender.
Betty was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Dubuque, the daughter of Perry and Mary (Paisley) Hummel. She married Raymond L. Ferguson on Aug. 8, 1948, in Vinton. Betty was manager for Duchess Cleaners in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids and later Springville Presbyterian Church. Betty was a Sunday school teacher, active in Women's Circle and other activities within the church. She enjoyed flower gardening and shopping. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
