Jean Severa Heath, 95, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Arbor Place at the Meth-Wick Community. A memorial service will be held at
2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Jean was born March 30, 1923, in Cedar Rapids to Lumir and Margaret (Deacon) Severa. After graduating high school, Jean went on to earn a master's degree in music conducting from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. While studying for her degree, Jean met Donald H. Heath. The two later married and welcomed three children.
Jean was a homemaker and choral director. She was able to share her love of music with many as the choir director at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bend, Ore. She also spent time as a concert volunteer with the Central Oregon Symphony.
Jean is survived by her children, Thomas Heath of West Richland, Wash., and Pamela Heath of Greenwood, Calif.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, William Severa of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles Heath; and sister, Eleanor Steen.
