Iona Ruth Langguth, 95, formerly of Palo, died peacefully Friday, April 10, 2015, in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Iona is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joan Langguth; four grandchildren, Mick (Charlie) Langguth of Tiffin, Amy (Dennis) Hobson of Bellevue, Neb., Mike Langguth of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mark (Jennifer) Langguth of Marengo, Ill.; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Langguth; her son, Jack R. Langguth; four brothers, Lester, Marvin, Henry and Francis; and two sisters, Martha and Ruby.
Iona was born July 10, 1919, the daughter of James and Cora Burt. She married Ray Langguth on June 16, 1936. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook for her family and enjoyed fishing with family and friends on the Mississippi River at their cabin in Clayton, Iowa. Iona took great pride in her family and was always ready to help them when needed.
