Fowler, Mary Margaret
Mary Margaret Fowler, 84, of Iowa City, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Mercy, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City. (Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for streets around the church). Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Mary Margaret Dolezal was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Iowa City, the daughter of Fred and Rose (Neuzil) Dolezal. She had attended St. Patrick's School in Iowa City. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Mackey in 1941; he later died in service in 1945 during World War II. She married Charles Fowler in 1946 in Iowa City. For a number of years she worked for the University of Iowa in the parking services department, before this she worked in various jobs within Iowa City.
Mary Margaret was a member of St. Wenceslaus and St. Mary's Catholic Churches, enjoyed her garden, crocheting, cooking for family and friends, trips to the casino; but most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family includes her children, Norma Jean (Mackey) Rouse of West Branch, Lois Gerard (Gerald) of Iowa City, Charles J. Fowler (Malinda) of Solon, Terry Lee Fowler of Iowa City, and Cindy Lee Madsen (Jeff) of West Branch; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and former son-in-law, Michael Rouse of Waukesha, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; grandson, Joseph; and her brother, Donald Dolezal.
