Letter: Eloquent response to Rod Blum

I would like to start by thanking Barbara Rank for representing all Iowans of intelligent restraint, when she sent her eloquent reply to Rep. Rod Blum's stated agenda. It made me want to shout out, 'Yes, that's it exactly!” It was John Q. Public, with undeniable logic in the perfect teaching arena. As it is being embraced by citizens nationwide, it is obviously a lesson for Washington, D.C. as a whole, and not just for our misguided Rep. Blum (who has quickly lost his constituency).

However, as with everything satisfying, people tend to grab ahold of the original and try to bend and shape it to fit their own needs. Think American Gothic, and all of the aberrations. To Lynda Waddington, those 94 words became a feminist crying out her angst. I'm sure Blum, as is the fashion in D.C., will try to spin this into an accolade.

But to me, it will remain one terrific answer, to one simple social studies question, by one eloquent Iowan. Not a man nor a woman, but just one of us.
