Donald Trump Jr. will join U.S. Rep. Steve King for the Republican congressman's annual pheasant hunt in northwest Iowa at the end of this month.
In a Monday tweet, King wrote, 'Happy to announce @DonaldTrumpJr will be hunting with us this year at my annual Col. Bud Day Pheasant Hunt on opening weekend of Oct. 28th.”
The tweet refers to opening day for Iowa's pheasant hunting season.
Trump Jr., the oldest son of President Donald Trump, served as a frequent surrogate on his father's presidential campaign.
He and his brother Eric now oversee a trust of Trump assets while the elder Trump is president.
Trump Jr. has come under fire for a revelation this year that he met with a Russian lawyer who promised damaging information about Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign.
King's pheasant hunt is named for Col. Bud Day, a Sioux City native and Medal of Honor recipient who was the nation's most highly decorated living service member until he died in July 2013 at age 88. Day and King hunted together periodically.
In recent years, the hunt has taken place at Hole ‘N The Wall Lodge, in rural Akron, Iowa, north of Sioux City
On Oct. 28, King's event will hold a breakfast and two field hunts, lunch and an evening banquet. Oct. 29 activities include breakfast and one hunt.
It's not known which day Trump Jr. will participate.
In the past, King's hunt has attracted high-profile Republican figures, including U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, both GOP presidential candidates.
