Donna Sue Gorsh was born Sept. 15, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of James Edmond and Mary Jane (Kissel) Baker. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1966. Donna was united in marriage to Dennis Ray Gorsh on July 28, 1978, in Daytona Beach, Fla. She was a refrigeration repair technician for many years at Amana. Donna was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, canning, baking and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Donna died on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 65 years.
She is survived by her husband, Denny, of Williamsburg; three sons, James Ralph Gorsh of Earlham, Iowa, John David (Angela) Gorsh of Indianola and Jaret Lynn (Tara) Gorsh of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Ben, Brody, Brooklyn, Shelby, Austin, Jacob and Jaxson; a brother, Bruce Baker of Indianola; and also very important to Donna, a niece, Danyel Jean Wilson, and a nephew, Joshua Wayne Hollingsworth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; a sister, Kathy Lee Hollingsworth; a brother, Edmond "Eddie" Baker; and a niece, Angela Jane Cook.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
