Speaker of the House must be bold

To the editor:
Someone can slough off on a job and yet be highly praised when they retire. John Boehner has left the job of Speaker of the House. He lied to the American people about things he intended to do and failed to do them. When the president went beyond our U.S. Constitution, Boehner allowed it without doing what the separation of powers demands. He was not a good Speaker of the House, according to our Constitution.
Good men hold high ranking jobs but do poorly in them. Sadly, many times similar personalities replace them because not enough believers in our founding will stand up and criticize, even in a positive way, past records so that better men are elected. Kindness can be a weakness too.
Today anyone who fights for actual fulfillment of our laws is called a hard-liner, a renegade or worse. That is why the wrong side usually wins; the public believes the name calling. As constitutional people we don't stand shoulder to shoulder in a bold way until the country eventually benefits. Not many are made of the sterner stuff, the stuff our founders proved to embody.
