A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Thursday for allegedly exposing himself to another person in a bathroom at Sycamore Mall in Iowa City.
Gilbert L. Garrett, 74, of 878 Center Point Rd. NE, faces charges of indecent exposure, a serious misdemeanor.
The victim reported that Garrett followed him into a bathroom Thursday afternoon. While the victim was washing his hands, Garrett unzipped his pants and was holding his penis while looking at the victim, according to Iowa City police.
The victim reported that he could see Garrett in the mirror and that Garrett was smiling and winking at him while touching his penis. The victim asked Garrett if he was coming on to him, and Garret responded by winking, according to police.
Garrett initially told police he did not go into the bathroom, but eventually said he did enter the bathroom and saw the victim, but he denied exposing himself, police said.
