Hlastradamus: Hotter than Iowa in the summer of 2012

Sep. 20, 2012 3:25 pm
Oh, the prophet is on a roll. Last week Hlastradamus posted his second-consecutive 4-1 week against the Nevada pointspreads. (Season-record: 9-5)
But even the mystics can get too full of themselves. His first four picks, all involving Big Ten teams, were money. He even talked himself out of taking Wisconsin and 13.5 points against Utah State while in mid-selection. But then he went too far and (gasp!) took Arkansas and the 20 points against Alabama.
He was only off by 32 points on that one.
But Hlastradamus isn't looking back. If he did, lawmen from several different eras in history would be gaining on him. On with the picks.
Iowa -14.5 vs. Central Michigan. NO PICK. This could be the day Iowa shows it can maul a lower-echelon MAC team. But even a man with a crystal ball likes to see proof of certain things.
Michigan State -32 vs. Eastern Michigan. The Spartans will make the overmatched Eagles pay for the Spartans' sins the week before against Notre Dame. Purdue beat EMU last week, 54-16.
Minnesota +1 vs. Syracuse. The Gophers are 3-0 on their way to 13-0. ... Even a seer has a sense of humor.
Kansas State +14 at Oklahoma. K-State isn't two touchdowns worse than anyone in the Big 12, anywhere.
Michigan +5 at Notre Dame. Denard Robinson had 502 total yards against the Irish last year. Robinson hasn't gotten worse.
USC -16.5 vs. California. Cal played great in losing 35-28 at Ohio State last week. But going to Ohio State and USC in successive weeks is no recipe for success, nor is playing a USC team that will be hungry to punish someone after its loss at Stanford last week.
Hlastradamus is hot. Hot, hot, hot!
